Methods to Reheat Fried Mushrooms
Reheating fried mushrooms is a simple process that can be done in the microwave, oven, or stovetop. You may not know this but you can also reheat them using an air fryer! Let’s cover all of these methods and decide how best to reheat your cooked mushrooms so they taste both delicious and nutritious.
#1 Using a Skillet/Pan
The most accessible and likely the best way to reheat your batch of fried mushrooms is to deep fry them again in a hot skillet. Sure, this isn’t the healthiest reheating method but, you can cheat every now and then with your food, right? Here’s what you can do:
- Start by taking out your leftover batch of fried mushrooms from the fridge and let it come to room temperature.
- In the meantime, take a pan and put it over medium flame to heat up and get rid of any residual moisture from the pan.
- To the pan, add enough oil for deep-frying the mushrooms.
- Wait till the oil heats up substantially and put the leftover fried mushrooms one by one, ensuring that they don’t stick to each other.
- Let them fry for 20-30 seconds on medium to high flame and ensure that you move it around to ensure that it reheats from all sides.
- Once it is hot enough, you can then take them out and put them on top of some tissue paper to soak up the excess oil.
#2 Using an Oven
If you have some spare time in your hands and you don’t want to douse the already fried mushrooms into more oil, using an oven is your safest alternative. However, keep in mind that this is a time-consuming process, unlike the other methods that take 2-3 minutes.
- Take out the leftover fried mushrooms from the fridge and let them thaw to room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes.
- Once the mushrooms are not cold anymore, you can line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spread the fried mushrooms on top of it.
- Spray the top with some oil to restore the crispiness.
- Bake the mushrooms in the oven for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway to ensure the other side of the mushrooms crisps up as well.
- Once done, you can take them out of the oven and enjoy them with your side of condiment.
#3 Using a Microwave
Although this is definitely a viable procedure, it is not something I’d personally suggest you do. This leaves the mushrooms extremely soggy, not to mention that it doesn’t taste the best too. However, if you don’t have a lot of time in your hands, this is a good option to look into.
- All you have to do is take a microwave-safe plate and spread out all of the fried mushrooms on that plate, ensuring that they don’t overlap each other.
- Once done, microwave them for 30-45 seconds and check if they have reheated from the center.
- If the center is still cold, you can reheat it for another 20-30 seconds.
#4 Using an Airfryer
I still remember how shocked I was with the results after using an air fryer. Not only did it leave the mushrooms feeling fresh, but it also ensured to crisp up the panko bread crumb coating from the outside, which was pretty amazing too. What’s more, the process isn’t as complicated as it seems!
- Start by defrosting your fried mushrooms or taking them out of the fridge if they have been there overnight. Wait for them to come to room temperature.
- Once that’s done, you can preheat the air fryer for 1-2 minutes.
- Take baking paper and line the basket of the air fryer with it. This prevents creating a mess and makes the cleaning process a lot easier.
- You can then add the leftover fried mushrooms to the line basket and reheat them in the air fryer in the maximum setting for 5-7 minutes, depending on how many mushrooms you have.
- You can also flip them halfway through to ensure that they crisp up from all the sides.
How To Make Fried Mushrooms?
If you want to control the portion and make your own batch of fried mushrooms instead of relying on takeaway, here’s a quick recipe that you can follow:
- Take a bunch of button mushrooms and clean them from both sides, ensuring there is no dirt or mud stuck to them.
- Once they are clean, set them to the side and spread them on a plate to dry the moisture off of them.
- In the meantime, you can start working on the wet batter for the mushrooms.
- Take 1-2 cups of self-rising flour or plain flour and add it to a bowl. Add all your desired seasonings and add some beer to make a smooth and lump-free batter, and set it to the side.
- Grab your cleaned mushrooms and coat them in some plain flour to ensure that the wet battery sticks on smoothly.
- Once you have dusted them with flour, coat them in wet beer batter and some panko bread crumbs for that crisp outer texture.
- Heat some oil in a pan for deep frying and wait till it’s substantially hot.
- Add the coated mushrooms and fry them for 4-5 minutes, until the mushrooms are crisp and golden.
- You can then sprinkle some spicy seasonings on top or enjoy it with your favorite condiment.
Conclusion
Reheating fried mushrooms can sound unappealing in the beginning, however, if done the right way, you wouldn’t even realize that you are eating leftovers. Ensure that you are using fresh ingredients and follow the steps that we have mentioned to reheat these vegan treats.
